Crossroads Church was started in July, 2006 by David and Jenny Cunniff. The Cunniffs have been in ministry for over 14 years — most recently at Mesilla Park Community Church, where David served as an Elder and Worship Leader. After about four months of prayer, investigation, and just plain ol’ long meetings, Mesilla Park “planted out” the Cunniffs as a completely new work in Las Cruces, NM. The Cunniffs were soon joined by two other couples which comprised the core group for the new church.
Our vision is to be the church for the portion of our population that has forsaken all things “church.” These are people who would be out of place in a “normal” church — even one as dynamic and open as some truly are. We connect with these people through our relationships at work, school — any place where we have an opportunity to have influence with another person just by being there. Ultimately, we seek to build relationships with people that will (hopefully) show them the way to Christ — but that don’t depend upon their accepting or rejecting Christ. Sound confusing? In a nutshell, if our new friends reject Christ, that’s okay — just as long as they don’t reject US in the process. If we’re not rejected, we’ll have another chance to show Christ to them in the future.
We feel that meeting in homes is the most honest way to connect people like this to the Church. However, we recognize that we are not the right church for everybody. Sometimes during the course of making relationships and introducing people to Crossroads, we discover that what we have really done is to re-connect people with their old churches. We think that’s great. We celebrate any church that preaches the risen Jesus as the only way to salvation.
Even though we meet in homes as small groups, we are connected to the greater organization of Crossroads Church through our leadership and through our love for each other. We do everything a “normal” church does — we share communion together, we worship, our pastors teach sermons, we give our offerings of time and money, and we share in each other’s lives and needs. The small groups give us the agility to quickly respond to needs as they come up, and the larger organization of Crossroads gives us access to the resources of a larger church for those “bigger” needs.

May God bless you as you seek Him.
